Morocco-The DigiSchool initiative, a collaboration between Huawei Morocco and the Moroccan Ministry of Education, was officially launched in December 2024. This ambitious project aligns with Morocco’s strategic 2022-2026 roadmap, which seeks to promote digital literacy and expand access to technology-enhanced learning tools. The initiative represents a major step forward in integrating cutting-edge digital resources into classrooms across the country, ensuring that students and educators alike are equipped to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Since its launch, DigiSchool has achieved significant milestones. A total of 265 teachers from Morocco’s 12 regions have received specialized training in harnessing emerging technologies for educational purposes. This training focuses on utilizing tools such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and web and mobile development platforms to enrich the teaching process. The initiative has also reached over 2,650 students, providing them with hands-on opportunities to engage with these technologies through innovative projects. These activities are designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills, equipping the next generation with the competencies needed for a tech-savvy future.

In addition to the classroom projects, DigiSchool has introduced regional hackathons, which have attracted participation from over 714 middle school students. These hackathons challenge students to tackle real-world problems using digital solutions, fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and collaborative spirit among young learners. By exposing students to such dynamic and practical applications of technology, the initiative is not only enhancing their technical knowledge but also encouraging them to think critically and work innovatively.

Looking ahead, DigiSchool is set to expand its reach through national bootcamps, scheduled to take place in the Fès-Meknès, Marrakech-Safi, and Souss Massa regions. These bootcamps will serve as a platform for the most promising projects from across the country to be showcased and further developed. Participants will receive intensive mentorship and training to refine their prototypes, enhancing both the technical and conceptual aspects of their work. To incentivize excellence and innovation, outstanding projects will be awarded recognition, further motivating participants to push the boundaries of their creativity.

Huawei’s role in the DigiSchool project is part of the company’s larger commitment to Morocco’s digital transformation. Prior to this initiative, Huawei collaborated with UNESCO and the Moroccan government on programs aimed at enhancing digital literacy among educators. One such project aspires to train 10,000 literacy teachers by 2025, a goal that underscores Huawei’s dedication to empowering Morocco’s educational sector through technology. The DigiSchool initiative, in particular, exemplifies how public-private partnerships can bridge gaps in digital accessibility and foster inclusive growth.

As Morocco continues to position itself as a leader in digital education within the region, the DigiSchool initiative stands out as a testament to the country’s forward-thinking approach. By equipping teachers with modern tools, engaging students in transformative projects, and fostering a culture of innovation, the program is paving the way for a brighter, more equitable educational future. Through these efforts, Morocco is not only addressing present challenges but also laying a strong foundation for generations to come.
