Germany-In a groundbreaking development within the domain of public-private partnerships (PPPs), Invesis has orchestrated a strategic acquisition, obtaining a substantial 95% shareholding in the University Hospitals Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) project. This move not only underscores Invesis’s ascendancy but also heralds a pivotal shift in control, transitioning from a joint venture to an initiative predominantly steered by Invesis.

Located in Kiel and Lübeck, Germany, the UKSH project stands as a monumental healthcare endeavor, encompassing a formidable array of over 89 clinics and institutes and boasting an extensive capacity of approximately 2,700 beds. Earning its distinction as one of Europe’s largest medical care centers, UKSH takes on the crucial role of the primary maximum care provider in the region of Schleswig-Holstein, delivering an exhaustive spectrum of contemporary medical and healthcare services.

Headquartered in the Netherlands, Invesis is a collaborative powerhouse forged through the partnership between the Royal BAM Group and PGGM. Their shared mission is anchored in the ethos of constructing enduring legacies, placing a premium on sustainability, and nurturing enduring relationships in the projects they undertake.

The dynamics of ownership at UKSH have undergone a seismic shift with Invesis’s strategic acquisition, propelling it from a joint venture into an entity principally directed by Invesis. This transition is poised to reshape the trajectory of UKSH, marking the beginning of a new era guided by Invesis’s vision and expertise.

As a major force in European healthcare, UKSH spans over 89 clinics and institutes, offering a robust capacity of 2,700 beds. Invesis has underscored its unwavering commitment to propel the project forward, channeling attention towards construction, renovation, and maintenance endeavors. Their strategic focus involves not only enhancing operational efficiency but also ensuring the preservation of the rich medical traditions at both UKSH locations for the benefit of future generations.

Invesis has unfurled a strategic blueprint aimed at elevating UKSH’s operations. This roadmap includes substantial investments in the modernization and expansion of hospital infrastructure. Furthermore, Invesis envisions the integration of cutting-edge technologies for digital health solutions, forging collaborations with medical experts to champion clinical excellence, optimizing operational efficiency, championing a patient-centric approach, and steadfastly committing to sustainability and environmental impact reduction.

The historical tapestry of UKSH is woven with threads dating back to 1665 when the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Kiel was established. The merger in 2003 between the university hospitals in Kiel and Lübeck heralded the inception of UKSH, with administrative operations centralized in Lübeck.

A cornerstone in medical care in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, UKSH operates a network of 49 clinics with an expansive bed capacity totaling approximately 2,400. The institution has been a recipient of significant investments, amounting to an impressive 1.7 billion euros, facilitating its substantial modernization and expansion efforts.

The narrative of UKSH reached a historical pinnacle on August 16, 2019, as operations commenced at the new central hospital building in Campus Kiel. This monumental occasion, witnessed by a diverse audience of over 5,000 guests and 700 public figures, signified a momentous juncture in UKSH’s evolutionary journey. This evolution is characterized by a seamless interweaving of tradition, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in medical care.

In traversing this evolutionary path, UKSH remains poised for continued growth and distinction under the strategic guidance of Invesis. The convergence of tradition and innovation, coupled with a steadfast commitment to excellence, positions UKSH as a beacon of transformative healthcare in the European landscape.
